Last week representatives of BMW concern announced the recall of more than one hundred thousand cars in South Korea. 28 cases of spontaneous car ignition since the beginning of the year became its reason. In addition to the unpleasant fact of the cars recall, the Bavarian concern will be under investigation initiated by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of South Korea. The reason is the same – spontaneous combustion of German-made cars.
Kim Hyun-mi, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, has already stated that the investigation will be scrupulous. He also promised to take severe measures if the problem was discovered.
About two dozen South Korean customers of the BMW concern have submitted claims to compensate for the damage. The average sum of the claim has amounted to about 4 thousand euro so far.
The cars of the third and fifth series equipped with diesel engines were recalled. It should be noted that the cars produced by the Bavarian concern in the period from 2011 to 2016 will be be recalled.
There are preliminary data that the cause of the fires could be a defect in the AGR system.
