French economic growth is weaker than projected

Over the period from April to June, the French economy has increased 0.2%. The annual rate is 1.3%. Such data were published by the National Statistics Institute.

Experts predicted that the growth for that period would reach 0.3%. The annual figure was expected at 1.4%. In the first quarter, GDP of France rose 0.3%.

According to the report, exports grew 0.2%. The annual rate was 2.7%.

Government spending rose 0.9%, while household expenditure grew 1.3%, business costs increased 3.1%.

The economy of France ranks second in Europe. The European Commission believes that this year its GDP will rise 1.3%, next year – 1.4%.
