Blockchain technology is certainly a hot topic these days. There is an abundance of tutorials, online courses, and other information to help people navigate the world of new technologies. However, the Chengdu University of Information Technology in China took it one step further. It will now be offering a major in blockchain engineering, as Cryptonews reports.
According to the source, since next week the students will start learning the subjects in the curriculum. It will combine traditional information technology studies with learning specifically about blockchain networks. Apart from that, students will be learning about blockchain development, design, adoption, and management.
China has set on the journey to becoming the leader in blockchain technologies. It has recently introduced the development of a blockchain infrastructure called the Blockchain Service Network. The BSN has been receiving support and extending its reach. For instance, the project has launched a website for the developers of decentralized applications on the blockchain.
Coin Telegraph also says that in 2021 the Blockchain Service Network will integrate support for stablecoins. With stablecoins, the users of the ecosystem will be able to make payments for services and resources. Seeing that China has taken a lead on the blockchain projects, there is a need for more professionals specializing in technology. As a result, the blockchain engineering major does not come as a surprising solution.
